Standing on the edge of a cliff several hundred feet above a cool lake in Vermont, I look down. I have trouble jumping in a pool for the first time, how can I do this? In life we have many obstacles to overcome, but after you adjust your mindset and conquer your fears, having confidence is the last forgotten step. Living with confidence will change your life.
I watched many people before me courageously leap off the edge.
What was holding me back?…Me! My thought process disabled me from taking actions far too many times. I was naturally afraid to jump off of a high cliff, nothing wrong with that. But I had to adjust my mindset to know that I was capable of doing it. If they can do it,I can do it! If you know what your goal is, you will be geared to taking actions toward that goal.
You have to conquer your fear by drowning that self-doubt with self encouragement. See yourself doing that action and say “I can do that!” You can either continue to put yourself down or you can start to pick yourself up. Whether it’s jumping off a cliff, starting a new business, or playing a sport, encouraging yourself to a state of confidence is key.
You are capable of anything. Your mindset is focused, your vision is clear, and now it’s time to be confident! You’ve prepared enough, you have the skills necessary to accomplish anything, now it’s time to believe in yourself and take action.
(Fade to flashback) At this point I’ve talked myself into it and I’m going to jump! I thrust myself forward and I leap over the edge. There’s no turning back now as I descend quickly into the flush of cold refreshing water. I shoot deep under the surface and start kicking as hard as I can for dear life until oxygen replenished my lungs. I’m alive!….. Let’s do it again!
