Other than Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man, we all had to crawl before we walked. It started with small steps until we mastered walking. And those small steps turned into running, and the rest is history! We have to take this same approach when it comes to meeting our goals. As hard as it seems to start doing something/ anything, it’s almost as easy as deciding what to eat for dinner. Let’s talk about where you want to be, how to map out the route it takes to get there, and setting that first small goal to reach. All major accomplishments start with one small step. The next step for you right now is to read the following paragraphs.
Where Do You See Yourself in 15 Years?
“If you can dream it, you can achieve it.”
– Zig Ziglar
Think really big and outrageous when answering this question. I want you to channel your inner child and use your imagination. What are you doing? Where do you live? How big is your house? Who is there with you? When you look at your bank account how much money is there? What do you create? How much are you worth? Whatever you want, you are free to imagine and visualize. It’s very important to write this down and be very specific. It will become your personal contract that you can reaccess and modify as you go. You will have the right to do that. Have fun with imagining what your future will be in 15 years.
What is the road to that future?
“If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough”
For example, let’s say that this is my goal. In 15 years, I will have 5 million dollars, a house, two cars, and a successful grocery chain of 6 stores. Please dream big! What needs to happen before this?
In 10 years, I will have 3 million dollars, a house, two cars, and a successful grocery chain of 4 stores.
In 5 years, I will have 1 million dollars, a nice apartment, one car, and will open my second grocery store.
In 1 year, I will have investors, enough knowledge about grocery stores, and open my first small grocery store. Get the picture?
And it all starts here…keep going with this until you know what goal you want to accomplish by the end of today! And don’t worry about the feasibility of your plan. The main objective is to start heading in the direction of where you want to be.
One Small Step For Mankind
“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or objects.”
Now that you’ve worked down each step to present time. You should now have your first step needed to reach your final goal! No matter how insignificant or small that goal seems. Remember, all major accomplishments started with one small step. The next time you look back you will appreciate those small steps. Continue to take each step until you can run away with your dreams. Create milestones for your journey towards that dream goal. Put on your sun glasses, smile and have fun doing it. Take it as a challenge to yourself to execute and accomplish each goal no matter how menial it may seem. A small goal of mine is to write 20 blog posts in one month. So by October 1, 2015 I will have 20 blog posts. By me song this tip this article will good me accountable. No pressure…
Keep On Stepping!
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
-Martin Luther King Jr.
After you’ve completed that first step, that first goal, it’s time to repeat the process again. You already have your road map, so simply move onto achieving your next goal. Speech each goal with confidence. Be proud that you’ve taken that first step, good job, and believe that you will take more steps and that you are that much closer to your dreams.
